Water Wednesdays
In June 2017, seven community leaders, educators, and professionals gathered around a dining room table one Sunday afternoon and brainstormed how to get reliable, factual information to the public regarding GenX in our drinking water.
Three short days later Clean Cape Fear was born and we hosted our first Water Wednesday: Community Forum on GenX on June 21, 2017. The response was tremendous with more than 400 concerned citizens from New Hanover and Brunswick counties in attendance.
Transparency and accountability are important aspects of a thriving community. We turned protest into power by hosting three Water Wednesday events during the summer of 2017. Our goal was to provide accurate and reliable information quickly to the public during a time of shock, confusion, and misinformation.
